Rep Tim Podlin---------Webmaster It was addressed that Tom Lucke’s name was misspelled in the meeting minutes for August 13, 2011. It will be corrected in the minutes. A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the Meeting held on August 13, 2011. Motion was approved unanimously. The Lake Management Report was given by Mike Backus. 2011 Facts: Water monitoring for non-chemical testing (clarity and temperature) was measured sixteen times in 2011. The first measurement of 2011 was 4/25/11. Last measurement was 9/24/11. Water monitoring for chemical testing was completed in June, July and August of 2011. (The requirement for chemical testing is monthly testing for 3 months.) All this water monitoring and testing required 19.5 people hours and 17.5 boat hours. Lake Water Level Measurements: (Highest) On June 27, 2011 it was up 5 inches from the base measurement on 4/13/11. (Lowest) On 9/24/11 it was measured and it was down 6 inches from the base measurement on 4/13/11. Temperatures: Surface Temperature: For 2011 the warmest temperature was 81.6 degrees on 8/4/11. The coldest temperature was 43.5 degrees on 4/25/11. Temperature at 60 feet: The coldest temperature was 40.4 degrees on 4/25/11. The warmest temperature was 43.5 degrees on 8/29/11. Lake Water Quality: Readings are completed to measure the lake water quality. The best clarity of the water for 2011 was 29 feet on 5/27/11. The worst clarity in 2011 was 14 feet on 8/4/11 but that was better than we have seen in the last few years. Treatment for Eurasian Water Milfoil: The Lake was treated on June, 14, 2011 with a liquid application. The results of the monitoring: found the lake to be nearly free of Eurasian watermilfoil. Eurasian watermilfoil was found at one location in the entire lake – a small bed adjacent to the boat landing. All of the locations where dense milfoil beds had been were completely repopulated with healthy beds of native pondweeds. The water was very clear. The patch by the landing was most likely the result of reintroduction from boat trailers. This emphasizes the need for continued vigilance to keep Eurasian watermilfoil from spreading again. Zebra Mussel: The Lake was monitored for zebra mussels and two traps came up clean of zebra mussels at the end of the season. Lake Management Plan: Updates to the lake management plan were made and recorded on Adams county site. The JLRPD Website has a link to the Adams County site. The Advisory Group Report was also presented by Mike Backus. The DNR issued a 3 year permit to add fish cribs to the lake. Trees are weighted and sunk into 20-30 feet of water to provide critical habitat for the fingerlings stocked in the lake by the DNR. There were 10.5 people hours and 5 boat hours spent on the placement of 3 cribs. More trees are needed in Spring for the placement of 3-4 more cribs. There was discussion on a water station. There will be ongoing discussions regarding this topic at future meeting. Dan Schleiter gave an update on the Treasurer’s report. There was discussion about increasing the amount of insurance coverage. More details will be given at a meeting in 2012. Kyle Cassel reported on the County Lakes Association Meeting: The Adam County Lake Alliance meets to help pass along lake information and lake management. There are approximately 30 lakes represented. The last meeting was cancelled. The next meeting is on November 5, 2011. Tim Podlin reported on the website. People viewing the website have increased for 2011 with the most activity on site in July of 2011. The month of October had a decrease in activity. Please provide your email address to the contact list for updates. The meeting minutes and any updates are posted on the website. The meeting dates are also posted on the website. Clean Boats/Clean Waters Program: The Clean Boats/Clean Water volunteer hours and surveys taken at the boat landing throughout the summer were tabulated. There were 72 volunteer hours from June through Labor Day 2011 for this program. This program is very important for grant funding. Patty Devine announced her resignation at the August meeting. The Clean Boat/Clean Waters Program is looking for a replacement for Patty. Patty will mentor her replacement. A special “Thank You” to Patty for all her hard work. A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting. Meeting was adjourned at 11:03 AM.
